About Me

I am a Florida girl born and raised, a girlfriend, a mom (to two adorable cats, Pilar and Oliver), an aspiring chef, a real estate investor, and lover of traveling.

Following in my family's footsteps, I attended the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and received my Elementary Education degree in 2011. I initially started working with Grand Avenue PLC during college as a part of my community outreach and quickly fell in love with the staff and the school. Fortunately enough, I was placed there for my internship during my senior year of college and was hired as a reading specialist (intervention teacher) right after graduation. I moved to my very own first grade classroom the following school year and have been in that position now for three years.

Grand Avenue is extremely special school, and truly is unlike any other school I've ever seen or heard of (at least in the state of Florida). We are the only publicly funded Primary Learning center in all of Orange County, providing an education to children from ages HeadStart to Grade 2.  Working at a Title I school in one of the toughest areas of Orlando has it's challenges, as I'm sure many of you know or can imagine. Our school is 100% free lunch and most of our families come from extreme poverty. Teaching at a high risk school exposes me to obstacles I never thought I would have had to face as a teacher but have opened me up to a side of me I never knew I had. I hope to share the fun, the learning, the strategies, and even the challenges I face and can provide you with some insight into how we're working on closing the educational gap for our kids!
